Target Audience Research

Title: Question 5: Who is your favourite actor?
From my research, I can see that males are more interested in action films. This can be expected as men are seen as more masculine and action films contain a lot of adrenaline and fast paced visuals, suitable for the high testosterone rates of men. Most of them prefer to watch films of this genre in the cinema, most likely with their friends, so that they can enjoy the rush together. This is useful research as I would be able to tell that if I were to make a film directed towards males, I would include key aspects of an action film the most.
Females were seen to enjoy each genre equally, showing me that they prefer a mixture of all genres. A lot of the females who took part in the survey said that they look forward to who is the directing the film that they're watching. This tells me that women are more particular in the elements of the films that they are watching. This could give the impression that they're more careful in which films tey watch due to who's directing it, which could explain the equal balance in film genres.

Storyboard

Storyboard The storyboard shows the main character entering his room where his desk and his book is. He sits down and opens his book which is full of names in a list format. As he picks up a pen, he gets a flashback to when he visited his father's grave. We flash back to current time and he begins crossing out names on his list. As he crosses out names on his lists, we see scenes of his main rival, a detective, who is analysing the deaths of the main characters victims.

Action-Thriller Mood Board

This mood board consists of a range films from thriller sub genres such as Crime Thrillers, Action Thrillers, Psychological Thrillers and Spy Thrillers. All films have a main character who has a motive for committing actions whether they be for evil or for good. This will be very helpful in the creation of my film opening as I will be able to develop ideas that generate suspense within  the film opening. These films will also help me generate a relationship between my two main characters within the film opening also, so that the audience will have a good understanding of what's to come in the sequence.

Camera Shots used

Canted Shot: This slightly tilted shot helps create an imbalance which conveys dramatic tension and a sign of suspense within the film. Over the shoulder: Helps the audience see the detective's heavy work-oriented environment, giving them a chance to see from his point of view. This makes the audience aware of the work that the detective puts in. Mid-Long shot: This provides the viewers with an extended view of the setting that the hitman is in. The lighting which accompanies the shot also shows mystique and suspense as they don't know what is going to happen until the hitman appears out of nowhere. Close Up: This close up shot allows the audience to see the hitmans calm reaction to the called by his distressed associate. This helps the audience create an idea of the hitmans laid back and professional attitude. Over the shoulder: This second close up shot allows the audience to see the Hitman crossing out a previously mentioned name in his per...
